Electromechanical prelithiation (HypSi™)

A prelithiation route that introduces lithium and pre-forms the SEI in one continuous roll-to-roll step — from 70 seconds per process step.

Electromechanical prelithiation introduces lithium into the anode and pre-forms the SEI in one continuous step, combining electrochemical transfer with mechanical contact under controlled conditions. HypSi™ is 70.energy's industrialisation solution for this route; the underlying technology was invented by Dr. Masaharu Satoh and his team in Japan.

Because lithium addition and SEI pre-formation happen before cell assembly, the approach can compensate irreversible first-cycle loss and shorten formation and aging. It works with silicon, graphite and composite anodes and is chemistry-independent on the cathode side (LFP, NMC, LCO).

Process conditions are defined per material system together with 70.energy and are not disclosed on this site. Final cell results depend on cathode, electrolyte and cell design.
