Lithium dosage

The amount of lithium introduced during prelithiation, and the parameter set that controls it.

Lithium dosage describes how much lithium is introduced into an electrode during prelithiation. It is a central development parameter: too little lithium may not address the intended effect, while too much can create other issues in the cell.

A preliminary dosage is usually derived from material and cell data and then verified experimentally. Electrical settings, treatment time, temperature, atmosphere and electrode format all influence the result, which is why dosage development is done together with process-parameter development.

Our laboratory equipment is designed to support precisely adjustable lithium dosage so that experiments can be repeated and compared. A calculation tool for electrochemical prelithiation is under development; until then a calculation can be discussed manually.
